VOA's Adopt-a-Family giving Christmas to families in need

Posted: Updated:

The holiday season is not always a joyful time for families in need, but FOX 2 is teaming up with Gardner White and 100.3 WNIC to support the Adopt-a-Family program.  Volunteers of America's program offers two ways to sponsor a family in the community.

Direct Sponsorship is the hands-on approach to helping a family.  It is a personal experience, and as a sponsor, you are able to: choose the family(ies), receive the family's wish list, contact the family to let them know they've been adopted, and then buy, wrap, and deliver the gifts.

Gift requirements direct sponsorship include at least: one new toy for each child, one new winter outfit (or coat/boots) for each child, and A means of a Christmas dinner for the family (usually a gift card to a grocery store like Meijer or Kmart - $75 for a family of 4, add $25 for each additional family member).

Cash Donations are accepted and will help provide clothes, toys and food for a family in need.  The VOA Christmas Store is set up for families to pick out toys, clothes, and food.

  • Your gift of $20 provides a toy for a child
  • Your gift of $30 provides warm winter clothing for a child
  • Your gift of $50 provides Christmas dinner for a family
  • Your gift of $150 provides an entire Christmas experience for a family of four

Donations of any amount are accepted and appreciated. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 3640, Southfield, MI  48037.  For more information, visit http://www.voami.org/.
