Ecorse teen pays tribute to late grandfather with light display

ECORSE, Mich. (WJBK) -- A neighborhood light display created by a Wayne County teen is sure to warm your heart this holiday season.

Carol Chene of Ecorse says her son, 15-year-old Clayton, built an elaborate display that includes wooden gingerbread men, a model train and thousands of blinking lights, all to honor his grandfather, who passed away in June. "He wanted to keep my father's Christmas spirit going. He put his heart and soul into this."

Carol says her father was fond of light displays and build elaborate sets every year, a family tradition that Clayton felt was important to continue. Clayton used his grandfather's train set and built the gingerbread house set by himself.

"He was worried that his efforts wouldn't match his grandpa's." But as you can tell in the video above, Clayton's work is not only impressive, it's a touching tribute that captures the spirit of Christmas.
