NOGALES, Ariz. -

Authorities shut down a drug smuggling tunnel in a Nogales backyard shed and found over 10 pounds of drugs inside a nearby home on Tuesday night.

The Nogales Tunnel Task Force developed information that a drug smuggling tunnel was near a home about one and a half miles north of the border.

When they went to the home, authorities found a tunnel entrance in a backyard shed.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says the tunnel was hand-dug, is about 52 feet long, roughly two feet wide by three feet tall and has some wood shoring.

The tunnel runs from the shed to a nearby underground sewage line that allows people to cross the border.

According to ICE, no people or drugs were found inside the passageway, however, eight pounds of white heroin, three pounds of marijuana and more than $1,400 in cash was found inside the house.

The task force is still investigating and hasn't made any arrests yet.
