Some May See Brief White Christmas Eve

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Some of us may see a very brief white Christmas Eve, FOX 29 Meteorologist Caitlin Roth says.

It does look like we will see a couple flurries and snow showers later this afternoon. Your best chance is in the northern and western suburbs.

Ultimate Doppler HD Radar shows the cold front that brought us rain all day Monday is exiting offshore. In its wake comes a secondary cold front bringing some snow showers along the Great Lakes.

It's going to be much colder, in the 30s and 20s, in the Northeast. Closer to home we will not get that harsh Canadian air settling over us too far east.

But it doesn't matter – it feels so much colder outside thanks to the wind and three days in the 60s we had before that.

Temperatures and wind chills this morning are all in the mid 20s. We'll get to a high of 40 degrees.

Your FOX Futurecast shows sunshine as we go through the morning, good for traveling.

In the afternoon there will be a few more clouds. Then, we have scattered flurries or snow showers, but those dark purples indicate heavy snow. If you get caught under one of these, visibility drops quickly and the snow can even stick to the roads very quickly.

Be advised heading out this afternoon when those snow showers do come down quickly you may have some slippery travel. But they do exit quickly.

And then by tonight, we're all clear for Santa Claus.

Christmas Day itself has sunshine and a few more clouds later in the day with a high of just 33.

Then, we will see temperatures moderate throughout the rest of the weekend.

If you are traveling before the New Year, you look good, too, in the upper 40s by next Sunday.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
