WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) -

'Tis the season of giving, and the public is invited to give one of life's most precious gifts at a community blood drive sponsored by Art Van Furniture, FOX 2 TV and the American Red Cross on Friday, December 27.

The fourth annual event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Art Van Furniture in Warren (6500 East 14 Mile Road).

"Whenever there's a need in the community, our wonderful employees and guests are the first to step up to do their part," said Gary Van Elslander, president of Art Van Furniture. "Donating blood is a simple, selfless way to help save a life. It's the ultimate gift that keeps on giving."

More than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day, according to the American Red Cross. This year's community blood drive will help support thousands of children and adults locally as well as across the nation.

Donors at this year's community blood drive will receive a complimentary copy of Mitch Albom's new book, The First Phone Call From Heaven.
