NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - The countdown is on to the new year in Times Square.

The crossroads of the world will be a gathering place for an estimated one  million people who will witness the ball drop as 2014 begins.

The new 2014 sign is in place below the pole where the ball makes its descent at the top of One Times Square on Tuesday night.

Crews removed the '3' from 2013 this week. SkyFoxHD was over the building where it could be seen on its side behind the new year number, 2014.

The Times Square Alliance says as many as a billion people will be watching around the world.

The entertainment lineup includes Miley Cyrus, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Blondie, Icona Pop, Jencarlos Canela, El Dasa, Rodney Atkins and Melissa Ethridge.

The festivities kick off at 6 p.n. with a Chinese cultural performance featuring Kung Fu.

You can watch the ball drop online at TimesSquareNYC.org
