Boy saves pigs, piglets from barn fire on family farm

FREDRICKSBURG, Va. -

An 11-year-old boy is being hailed as a hero for saving his family's livestock from a fire that broke out Monday in the barn of their Virginia farm.

The Fitzgerald family says young Daniel rushed into the barn to rescue more than 50 panicked pigs and piglets.

After opening the gate to the barn, many of the animals ran to safety, but others needed some help.

Unfortunately, three piglets did not survive the fire.
