Phoenix woman wounded when shot while sleeping

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - A sleeping woman was wounded when a bullet pierced a window in her northwest Phoenix apartment in what police say apparently was random gunfire.

Police Lt. Tom Van Dorn says the woman was lying in bed late Thursday night when she was wounded.

Police had received several 911 calls during the evening about gunshots in the area.

Her wound is described as non-life-threatening.

The apartment is in the area of Interstate 17 and Peoria Avenue.

No arrest has been made. Arizona law makes randomly firing a weapon within city limits a felony offense.
