A photo posted by a Detroit police officer making its way around Facebook serves as an inspiring example of determination and love through our recent patch of rough weather.

Kat Eaton, a DPD veteran for 27 years, tells FOX 2's Amy Lange he was patrolling the city on Jan. 5 when he ran across an elderly man named Marshall shoveling the snow in front of his home. What caught Eaton's eye was that Marshall is an amputee bound to a wheelchair.

Eaton stopped to talk to Marshall, who said he was removing the snow for his 85-year-old sister so she wouldn't "have any problems getting into the church van."

Eaton says seeing Marshall's efforts made his day and offered to help him with groceries. Marshall responded, "No sir, my sister and I went grocery shopping yesterday. I own this house and the one next door, and my sister prepared dinner for the both of us this morning. Thank you, sir and have a blessed and safe day. I have to finish this snow."

Marshall posed for a photo with Eaton (see right), who posted it on his Facebook page. It's been shared nearly 1,000 times.
