PHOTOS: Fly over the frozen Detroit River

DETROIT (WJBK) -- SkyFOX pilots braved Tuesday's record-breaking temperatures to capture stunning images over the frozen Detroit River.

Several of the shots show ice buildup that's made a slow go for ship traffic. CBC News reports a freighter near the Ambassador needed a Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker to lead it to the St. Clair River.

The arctic blast brought record-low temperatures recorded in some parts of the state, wind chills made it feel as though it were 30 to 40 degrees below.

The Weather Authority says a warm-up is on the way, however, with weekend high reaching the upper 30s.
