Mayor Duggan previews auto show, nearby businesses get ready for crowds

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan got a sneak peak at the North American International Auto Show Thursday. He took a tour of the show floor crews continued to do last-minute setup work for the annual show. "Cobo Hall and the auto show are going to look fantastic," he tells Fox 2.

The show is expected to draw about 5,000 journalists and 800,000 visitors. The economic impact from the NAIAS from the last 25 years has been in the billions of dollars, and this year alone could bring more than $360 million to metro Detroit.

Nearby at Cobo Joe's restaurant, Lolinda Bellamy says they make their living off the auto show. They expect to serve over a thousand people this year.

The White House said on Wednesday that Vice President Joe Biden will attend the auto show. Which day he will make the visit was not announced.

News media, industry and other previews begin Monday, and the show is open to the public Jan. 18-26 at Cobo Center.
