Man dead in Gwinnett Co. house fire

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

Authorities have located the body of a man who died during an early morning fire at a Gwinnett County home. 

According to Gwinnett County Fire, the one-story house went up in flames around 1:45 a.m. on Friday morning. Two of the occupants of the home, a man and woman, were able to escape however, a male relative living in the basement was not accounted for well into the firefighting process.

Family members say the male family member was last seen walking to the basement before the fire department arrived. Authorties doubted the man would survive the fire and located his body while digging through debris, shortly after 8:30 a.m. Friday morning. 

The cause of the fire is undetermined, at this time.

The body will be turned over to the Medical Examiner's Office to be identified. No further information was immediately available.
