1 degree of separation for Kevin Bacon and fans

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - When the second season of 'The Following' returns to FOX on Sunday night, fans will find actor Kevin Bacon's character has a deep suspicion that a dead serial killer is still alive.

The success of the "dark" show wasn't something Bacon thought much about before the first season.

"I didn’t really speculate.  It’s a great time to be on television because television is at its finest… which also means the competition is incredibly hard," said Bacon during Good Day New York.

With too many movie roles to count, Bacon admits he never thought he'd make his way back to television.

"After I left soap operas I said I’ll never come back to this."

His big break, decades ago, came with a starring role in 'Animal House.'

"I thought I was a star. The money I made from 'Animal House' I spent in a week in a half.. I had to go back to waiting tables," said Bacon who arrived in New York City from Philadelphia in 1976.

Looking at Hollywood success as a series of "baby steps" proved to be the best outlook to have, said Bacon.

After its premiere episode following the NFC Championship on Sunday night, 'The Following' moves to its normal slot on FOX 5, Mondays at 9 p.m.

The future is here when it comes to vehicles. The auto industry has packed nearly 1,000 automobiles into the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side for the 2014 NY Auto Show.   Among the 'must-sees' is a hydrogen-powered vehicle and a prototype with cameras that allow you to see the ground underneath as you drive over it.
