Oh boy, the anti-Granholm mob will have fun with this.  They are talking in California about running the former Michigan governor for something as part of the “new generation” of D’s on the west bank.

LANSING, Mich. (WJBK) -

If you need any proof that politics is a wacky and unpredictable game, read on.

State Capitol. Wednesday Jan. 15. 1:30 p.m.  Legislative Democrats blast the governor for helping the rich without giving two hoots about the little guy.

Leading the charge, the House Democratic Leader Tim Greimel who was supposed to get back-up from his senate counterpart, Sen. Gretchen Whitmer.  She was a no-show as her bad case of political laryngitis is apparently not getting any better. (See story on Whitmer being asked by UAW to run for governor.)

Mr. Greimel lambasted the governor for developing tax policies that favor "the wealthy and well-connected while forcing middle-class families to pay the price."

And to underscore his point, he asked Joeanne Peterson, a former Grand Rapids teacher, to take the microphone to lament the governor's pension tax. It has emerged as the centerpiece of the Democratic strategy to send Gov. Snyder back to Ann Arbor for good.

Ms. Peterson was passionate as she called the governor out by name.

"Who advocates for us?  Not Rick Snyder. (Although she pronounced it Schneider, but then who is keeping score?)  Not the senate and house Republicans who should have advocated for us."

The sound bite carried some wallup.

Knowing that these kind of class distinction charges are coming his way, last December the governor was asked if he cared about common citizens?

"Oh, absolutely. I think I can back it up."

State Capitol.  Same day Wednesday. About 2:15.  Same GOP governor makes a personal and half hour appearance with the House Democrats.  The same ones who just moments ago blasted him.

He was there to solicit their help in finding about $350 million in state aid for the Detroit Institute of Arts to match a massive foundation pledge to save the DIA.  The governor also told them he wanted to help pensioners in Detroit who could take a hit in their monthly check and he indicated the art would not be sold off to get Detroit out of bankruptcy.  It's what the D's wanted to hear.

Hence there was zero Democratic yelping to those Snyder policy suggestions.  In fact, they could hardly wait to cooperate with him.

Go figure.  Enemy in one breath.  Partner in the next.

Welcome to the real world of politics in this town.
