Welcome Back Julie Chang!

Updated:
Los Angeles, CA -

She's BACK! Julie Chang is back on the air at Good Day LA for the first time since having brain surgery in November. She had a brain tumor removed and got engaged all within a month, and she feels a new sense of gratitude.  She thanks all the fans for support and warm messages.

Julie says, "To put it simply, California saved my life."  Had she not moved here from New York, she would have never taken up surfing.  Julie was on her board on a very calm night with the sun setting and admiring the view.  During that time, the board had drifted out on its own, and when she looked forward, it banged her face.  When she got a CT scan on the black eye, and during that scan is when the radiologist found the brain tumor.

The tumor was the size of her fist and had been there for a long time.  When they found it was benign, it was the greatest piece of news she's ever received.

Julie says she is almost 100% back to normal, with the exception of vision.

She says it doesn't hurt to have a MRI if you think something is wrong. She was on really strong migraine pills, which she felt was masking what was really going on.

She said this whole experience felt like I was "attending my own funeral", since she saw all the people from her past that she hadn't heard from in so long.  She plans on making 2014 less dramatic!
