Bears hire Hurtt as assistant D-line coach

Posted: Updated:

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) - The Chicago Bears have hired former Louisville and Miami assistant Clint Hurtt to take the place of Michael Sinclair as assistant defensive line coach.

Hurtt, 35, was sanctioned last fall by the NCAA for violations committed as a Miami assistant.

Louisville had suspended Hurtt for the violations with the Hurricanes and he was under a two-year show-cause penalty requiring compliance updates to the sanctioning body. He leaves after four seasons with the Cardinals.

Hurtt played at Miami (1997, 1999-2000) before his career ended prior to the 2001 season due to injury.
