Medical Marijuana Found In 4-Year-Old's Candy

Posted: Updated:

Investigations are underway in Missouri after drug-laced treats are mailed to a four-year-old girl.

Christine Braun says her daughter had just celebrated her fourth birthday. The toddler received many presents -- including a gift from the girl's aunt in Saint Celmete, California.

A few days later another package arrived sent from the same city and the same shipping company.

The package was addressed to the birthday girl and was filled with treats.

Christine Braun assumed the treats were from the aunt and ate them, but those treats landed the girl and the mother in the hospital.

After running tests, the mother-daughter duo tested positive for highly concentrated levels of THC -- the mind altering substance in marijuana. Now, the mother wants the person responsible for the mess behind bars.

"I could not feel my body but I kept having sensations that I went to the bathroom on myself I kept having sensations that my blood was really thick and the skin was going to break.," Braun said. "I just can't believe somebody would do that and the fact that it was addressed to my four year old daughter, is what scares me.  I don't want this to happen to somebody else."

Christine wants the person who did this put in jail. "I won't rest until they are put in jail," she said.

The Brauns turned the package and the rest of the treats over to police. Jefferson County authorities confirm they are investigating.
