Burn victim released from hospital, was injured in Peoria house explosion

Posted: Updated:

It's hard to imagine anyone walked away from a house explosion in Peoria alive, but the two people inside the home did survive. On Friday the second victim was released from the hospital.

"Feeling great. It was a long road you know, a horrible accident" said Beau Zimbro.
Back in October Beau Zimbro and his girlfriend Tiara Del Rio were badly burned when a natural gas explosion leveled their home.
"Being set on fire you hear the sizzle... you feel your skin, your hair, and everything burn and the sizzle doesn't go away.... that's where you got two options your thinking you're gonna die or you get a chance out. Thank god for the explosion I think it wiped out the fire and the sizzle and gave me a second chance" said Zimbo.
Tiara Del Rio was released from the hospital earlier this month. Doctors say both are making great progress in their recovery. "Last week I couldn't stand on my own let alone walk with a walker this week I can" said Zimbro.
When asked about his thoughts on going home Zimbo said, "I could tear up on it just that grateful that I'm ever here for it I have so many people to thank this is the day I've been waiting for".
The couple's road to recovery includes spending some time at a rehab facility. Now that they are both out of the hospital they say they're looking forward to spending more time together.
