ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WJBK) -- A St. Clair Shores woman faces felony charges for mutilation and dismemberment following the death of her son, 32-year-old Ramsey David Scrivo.

On Thursday, January 30, Ramsey's remains were found dumped in trash bags along the sides of a road in St. Clair County.

On Monday, his mother, 59-year-old Donna Scrivo, was arraigned on mutilation and dismemberment charges, which carries a possible 10-year prison sentence.  She was also arraigned on a charge of removing a deceased person from a premise, which carries a possible 1-year prison sentence.

She was not charged with murder, although Police in St. Clair Shores say the Macomb County prosecutor's office is expected to review a warrant request for murder charges in the case.

"These charges that were brought are not the end of the case. We are still working diligently on a murder investigation at this time," said Todd Woodcox, interim St. Clair Shores Police Chief.

FOX 2's Robin Schwartz reports no murder charges were brought forth Monday because not enough evidence supports it yet, as the cause of Ramsey's death has not yet been determined. Investigators are awaiting toxicology results.

Police say Scrivo, who lives in St. Clair Shores, reported her son missing on January 27 and, three days later, was seen by witnesses in China Township dumping garbage bags. Her son's remains were found in black, plastic garbage bags Thursday. Authorities say Scrivo admitted to being in the St. Clair County area at the time of the discovery, and that the victim's blood was found in the vehicle she was driving.

Investigators also found blood and bleach at the house where she was living with her son after a fire at her home.

A 40th District Court Judge ordered Scrivo to undergo an psychiatric evaluation.  She remains in jail, held on $100,000 bail, and the next hearing in the case against her takes place on February 11th.
