FOX 5 viewers give woman dream wedding

Posted: Updated:

Donald Wiles asked Chrystal Lurry to be his bride five months ago. Now, the couple is working against the clock to make their dream wedding reality after Wiles was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Doctors say Wiles is dying from ALS, which is commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease. His condition is deteriorating every day. The devastating diagnosis came just months after the pair got engaged. His fiancée said that he sought medical help when it became difficult for him to pick up their infant son.

The bride-to-be is a 911 operator in Clayton County.  She's used to emergencies and keeping calm under pressure. Faced with the possibility of a future without the love of her life, the 32-year-old said that she's turning to strangers for help to help get the wedding of their dreams.

FOX 5 viewers were moved by Chrystal's wish for a dream wedding. Saturday, they helped to make her dream one step closer to a reality by throwing her a wedding shower.
