New Reward In Deadly Purse Snatching

Northern Liberties -

A new reward is offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect who shot and killed a woman in Northern Liberties last month.

Police are offering an instant $20,000 reward for an arrest made by Sunday at midnight.

That's on top of the current $ 37.000 reward in the Amber Long case. Long and her mother were walking along Front Street when thieves grabbed at their purses.

Long tried to stop the thief from taking her new purse, when she was shot and killed.

Philadelphia Police released video showing the moments leading up to the deadly shooting,

"She didn't see it coming," said Homicide Captain James Clark. "He grabbed her purse, her body turned and with that he pulled out a gun. He just shot her for no reason."

Her mother Stephanie Long's purse was snatched. The second armed robber tried to steal Amber's new purse that her mother says she bought earlier in the day for $14.

The video also shows the suspects as they flee the scene and later get into this black sedan to make their getaway.

Amber's mom told FOX 29 her daughter's death was senseless and pointless.

"That's why I label him a coward. You have a defenseless female who over a $14 purse you shot and kill her," Stephanie said.
