PATCO Evacuation At Ben Franklin Bridge

Posted: Updated:
Old City -

Sky FOX went over the Ben Franklin Bridge after PATCO passengers were evacuated.

PATCO officials tell us that two cars filled with smoke after a motor shorted out.

All passengers from the out-of-service, six-car train either have been directed to the Franklin Square Station platform or have left the station on an eastbound train. About 100 remaining passengers are waiting on the platform for a train.

PATCO is now running limited eastbound service from Philadelphia.

PATCO suspects the smoke could have been caused by shorted electrical motor or malfunctioning brakes, although a definitive cause cannot be determined until PATCO has an opportunity to investigate the incident fully.

The incident was listed under control at 6:17p.m.
