CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A Chicago mother is taking an unusual step with social media. She's using it to help solve her son's murder.

In addition to using Facebook and Twitter, she is also getting help from a Chicago rap artist.

Pamela Hester-Jones has never given up hope of finding her son's killer.

She's already using Facebook and Twitter to raise awareness about what happened to 13-year-old Lazarus.

Now, as the 7th anniversary of his death approaches, she's taking her campaign a step further.

She's working with Chicago rap artist King James to produce a YouTube video about her son's case.

"I feel if they see the community in action, and they see the words that is spoken, that maybe somebody will care enough to say, you know what, I know what happened and I'm gonna call this year for this mom," Pamela Hester-Jones said.

Rapper James "King James" Warren has been friends with Hester-Jones for years, and when she asked for his help he agreed to do a video for her.

" She came up with the "Who do you think you are" slogan and I said well, we can use that as the hook and what I need you to do is just send me some information, send me the clippings, send me the letter that you wrote, how you were feeling," Warren said.

Warren recorded the video at the scene where Lazarus died at Lawrence Avenue and Troy Street on Chicago's North Side.

He was beaten to death by suspected gang bangers who mistook him and friends for rival gang members.

Anton Mitchell, with Mitchell-Lee Films is editing the video this week, and when it's done Hester-Jones plans to blast it out on all her social media pages.

I'm gonna put it on twitter, gonna put it on Facebook, my campaign page on Facebook, LinkedIn and also Myspace," Hester-Jones said.

The idea is to make a rap video and use that to try and connect with someone who might know what happened seven years ago when Lazarus Jones was killed.

And with someone who might share that information and help catch the killer.
