NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - The hit HBO series 'Girls' has fans hooked.

Created by and starring Lena Dunham, the show follows a group of twenty-somethings living in New York City.

One of it's stars is Andrew Rannells of 'The Book of Mormon' fame. Rannells was still on Broadway performing in the wildly successful production when he landed the role of Dunham's ex-boyfriend.

"I started doing the show when I was still doing 'The Book of Mormon.' It was before we knew what it was going to turn into so it’s been very exciting to watch it grow,” said Rannells.

Rannells character comes out in the show to Dunham who has a sexually transmitted disease she believes was passed to her by Rannell.

Season four of 'Girls' is expected to start "very soon," says Rannells.

The stage-actor-turned-TV star returns to his roots next month in a special concert with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall.

The show is set for March 21.
