Man's Dying Wish For His Wife Granted

Posted: Updated:

Michael Sherwood was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2004.

His battle with it has left him wheelchair bound Relying on his wife Monica to take care of him.

There is no timetable for how long Michael has especially after an MRI revealed two tumors back in October, but he wanted to give his wife something to remember him by.

9 years ago, Monica sold her wedding ring to cover medical bills because they had no insurance.

It was a move she doesn't regret but Michael does.

"He's an amazing man in my eyes, a really amazing man," Monica said.

Now Wish Granters is giving Michael a chance to get Monica an engagement ring. The non-profit organization is currently working on 14 other projects for people suffering with terminal illness.

"We've never had one quite like this before; it's really - I think - an amazing wish," Wish Granters executive director Doug Raber said. "We have had a lot of folks make wishes for their family members, different kinds of wishes – carpeting for the home or a special trip somewhere.

Monica was very happy to receive the gift and says she will love her husband all the way till the end.

"I didn't expect it to be so exquisite and beautiful I couldn't be more thankful." Monica Sherwood said.

In fact, "I love you" is the last words she wants him to hear.

Those are the last words that I want him to hear from me," Monica said.

Michael and Monica have three sons and several grandchildren.
