Judge removes defense team for Bob Bashara, appoints new attorneys

A judge has appointed a new defense team for Bob Bashara.

Tuesday Judge Vonda Evans removed the defense attorneys representing Bashara and appointed two new attorneys.

FOX 2's Amy Lange was in the courtroom and tweeted those new attorneys are David Cripps and Gabby Silver.

Her tweets also indicate the attorneys will be in court on March 11 representing Bashara, and on that day Judge Evans will also appoint another attorney to help in the case.

Prosecutors had objected to a new defense team believing it will set the case back months. Lange reports the trial will be on hold until likely while the new attorneys prepare. Prosecutors believe the trial won't start until Oct. or Nov., but Judge Evans believes the trial could start as early as July.

The Grosse Pointe Park man is charged in the death of his wife, Jane Bashara.

She was strangled two years ago, and her body was left in her Mercedes-Benz in Detroit. Bashara is accused of coercing handyman, Joe Gentz, to kill his wife so he could live a new life with another woman. He denies any role in his wife's death. Bashara is already serving time for trying to have Gentz killed in prison.
