MACON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a 3-year-old girl has died in a house fire in Macon.

Bibb Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley says the fire happened around 4 p.m. Friday on Mimosa Drive in west Macon.

Miley identified the girl as A'von Martin.

WMAZ-TV reports that the blaze caused heavy damage to the small home. Firefighters were still at the scene after 6 p.m. and flames were still breaking out.

The station reports that other people inside the home managed to escape, and that none of them were seriously injured.

Fire Chief Marvin Riggins says there were working smoke detectors in the home.

He says they are still investigating the cause of the fire and where it started in the home.
