Parts of Niagara Falls, most of the Great Lakes frozen over

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Even the iconic Niagara Falls are succumbing to this year's brutal winter...

The extreme cold temperatures have frozen parts of the waterfalls.

So water is now flowing over and around the frozen spots.

Weather experts say more than 88 percent of the Great Lakes are covered with ice...

That's the most in twenty years.

The all-time record was set back in 1979 when almost 95 percent of the lakes were frozen over.

Located on the Niagara River, which drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario, the combined Niagara Falls form the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the world, with a vertical drop of more than 165 feet.

Only 10 percent of people who get CPR from a bystander actually survive. But two young men in Westchester County have now patented a device that could dramatically increase those odds and save lives. John and Chris DiCapua's sitting room in their parents' Westchester County home has had a unique guest lying around for quite a while now: a CPR dummy. What began as an idea from their time as Boy Scouts is now a device that could potentially save lives.
