The staff at Sinai Grace Hospital is collecting funds for the many families who lost everything when a massive fire burned down their apartment building earlier this week.

Eight fire victims were brought to that hospital to be treated for a variety of ailments, such as smoke inhalation, burns or fractures.

Some residents had to jump from second- and third-story windows at the Jason Manor Apartments in Detroit to escape the flames.

Four of the victims are still hospitalized.

Authorities have labeled the fire as an arson and are still trying to figure out who started the blaze. Police believe the arson is connected to a sexual assault that reportedly occurred at the building just a short time before the fire started .

Police are still questioning multiple people about the arson, and have two persons of interest in custody for the alleged sexual assault. Those two people are being held on unrelated charges.

You can help the victims of the fire in several ways. Twenty-four people were rescued and all appear to have lost everything.

You can drop off monetary donations to the cashier's office at Sinai Grace. Make checks payable to the St. Vincent De Paul Fire Fund, and write in the memo: Victims of the Jason manor Apartments.
