Murder-for-Hire Arrest

Posted: Updated:

It's a quirky, old-fashioned, two-story combination of offices, stores, and salons that, quite frankly, needs a good cleaning. It's called "The Courtyard" and you can find it on Santa Monica Boulevard just west of La Cienega in West Hollywood.  It's where a woman named Dawn DaLuise ran a skin care salon called the  "Skin Refinery'' in suite 12 which she shared with a hair stylist.  DaLuise wasn't there Friday.  She was arrested on Wednesday and was in Airport Courthouse in Del Aire being arraigned on a charge of solicitation of murder. Of course, the arraignment was postponed, which is routine. Her bail is $1 million, so it's likely she'll have to postpone her appointments for a while.

According to L.A. County Sheriff's Department investigators, who obtained a warrant for her arrest on Wednesday after being tipped off on Tuesday, DaLuise wanted to take out the competition, literally, in the name of Gabriel Suarez. He had opened his own skin care practice called ‘' Smooth Cheeks'' literally next door to her business.  Nice. When I talked with Suarez, who was there Friday treating patients, he didn't want to say too much on the advice of his  lawyers, but he did think Dawn was a bit ‘‘crazy''. You can hear more from him in our interview in our FOX 11 News report.  A business owner nearby used the exact same word but he didn't want to go on camera.

DaLuise boasts quite a list of celebrity clients, which sometimes is accurate and sometimes is exaggerated.  Her company website dawndaluise.com has links to several top-notch magazines featuring her skin care expertise. Her technique was also featured in a segment we did on "Good Day LA" back in 2004. I wasn't able to talk to anyone who knows her personally, but it certainly seems like quite a leap from being concerned with the new competition to murder, but as we know all –too-well stranger things have happened.
