A massive manhunt for a murder suspect came to a dramatic end Monday morning right on the U.S. 60, shutting down the eastbound lanes from Interstate 10 for hours most of the day.

The suspect, Andrew Rael, may be responsible for two murders and he's been in trouble with the law before.

25-year-old Rael was described as a very dangerous man.  Police say he not only murdered a tow truck driver, apparently in a dispute over the bill, but they have reason to believe he also killed a convenience store worker.

Rael was shot and killed in a shootout with law enforcement on the U.S. 60 in Tempe.  He's believed to be responsible for a crime spree that started Saturday afternoon in Buckeye.

A tow truck driver was shot and killed by Rael after witnesses say there was an argument when Rael's car was towed to an auto repair shop.

A manhunt for Rael was launched. He was spotted around 3 a.m. Monday in the west valley and a pursuit began.  It ended along the U.S 60 where officers used stop sticks to disable the Jaguar Rael was driving.  He got out of the vehicle and started firing -- he was shot and killed by officers.

Rael was paroled from a Colorado prison in October after serving 4 ½ years of a combined nine-year sentence on assault charges.

Colorado officials say Rael entered prison in April 2009 and was eligible for parole in May 2012, but the parole board didn't choose to release him until last fall. He was granted permission to serve his parole in his native Arizona.

"They worked on everything that they got, information from witnesses, everything they could to get this guy off the street. Clearly he shot an innocent person who was trying to help him with whatever car issues he was having. We needed to find this person and get him off the street before he did anything else," said Officer Tamela Skaggs.

Police in Glendale also worked to find out if Rael was responsible for the shooting of a clear at an AM/PM near 99th Avenue and Glendale around 1:45 a.m. Monday.  A 26-year-old clerk, identified as Daniel Scott White, died after being shot by the suspect.

Glendale police say they plan on releasing more information on that homicide and if it is linked to Rael sometime Tuesday.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
