Chicago moves up to 3rd snowiest season

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The storm system that moved through late Tuesday night into Wednesday's early morning hours brought anywhere from 3-7" of snow around the Chicago area.

Chicago's O'Hare received 3.6" of snow making this 2013-2014 season the 3rd snowiest on record since 1884.

The season total has now climbed up to 79.1". Here's a list of the top 5 snowiest seasons on record:

1) 1978-79' - 89.7"

2) 1977-78' - 82.3"

3) 2013-14' - 79.1"

4) 1969-70' - 70.0"

5) 1966-67' - 68.4"

Please keep in mind that the season snow is from July 1st through June 30th.

All of this coming on the heels of the 3rd coldest and 3rd snowiest meteorological winter on record which is December 1st through February 28th.

The total snowfall for the meteorological winter was 68.4" while the average temperature was 18.8 degrees.
