CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man attempted to rob a bank in the Loop on Thursday morning, about 20 minutes after another bank was robbed in the Southwest Side Brighton Park neighborhood.

A man walked into the CitiBank branch at 100 S. Michigan Ave. at 11 a.m., handed the teller a note and implied he had a weapon, according to police and the FBI.

The suspect—described as a 5-foot-9 to 6-foot black man with a thin build, wearing a gray puffy coat and black hat—left the bank without any money, authorities said.

About 20 minutes earlier, a TCF Bank branch at 2538 W. 47th St. was robbed at 10:42 a.m., authorities said.

Police said the suspect escaped with an unknown amount of money. The suspect in that robbery is described as a 5-foot-8 to 6-foot man with a thin build, wearing a black coat and black hat.

Anyone with information about either robbery should call the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
