Chicago police investigate West Lawn robberies

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are investigating two robberies that happened Monday afternoon in the West Lawn community on the Southwest Side.

The first robbery happened about 4:30 p.m. in the 6100 block of South Springfield Avenue, followed by another robbery about fifty minutes later in the 6000 block of South Hamlin Avenue, according to an alert issued by Area Central detectives on Thursday.

In both robberies, a group of four or five men walked up to individuals and physically attacked them before taking their property, the alert said.

The suspects were described as black men between 18 and 20 years old, one of whom has long red or auburn dreadlocks, police said.
