Lake Forest oasis reopened after bomb threat

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Sun-Times media Wire) -

Authorities have reopened the Lake Forest Oasis on the Tri-State Tollway after a threatening phone call closed it down for more than two hours.

The anonymous call was made to police in North Chicago and Gurnee, threatening that a bomb was placed in the oasis, ISP Tollway District Master Sergeant Matt Swanson said. That call was relayed to Illinois State Police about 4:45 p.m., and the oasis was evacuated, Swanson said.

An all-clear was given about 7 p.m. after Chicago Police and the Cook County Sheriff's Bomb Squad did a "thorough sweep" and found no explosive devices inside, Swanson said.
