West Los Angeles, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) A stretch of the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass will be closed overnight tonight and Thursday night as the $1 billion freeway expansion project continues.

The southbound freeway will be closed both nights from the Ventura (101) Freeway to Getty Center Drive, according to Metro, which is overseeing the freeway construction project through the Sepulveda Pass.

Ramp closures will begin at 7 p.m. each night, with some lanes being blocked beginning at 10 p.m.

The full southbound freeway will be closed from midnight to about 5 a.m. each night, according to Metro. The southbound on- and off-ramps will be closed at Ventura and Valley Vista boulevards and at Skirball Center Drive, along with the southbound Burbank Boulevard on-ramp and the 101 Freeway connectors to the 405.

Motorists will be diverted to southbound Sepulveda Boulevard.
