NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - A security guard at the construction site of 1 World Trade Center was photographed sleeping on the job.

When asked why he appeared to be knocked out, he told the NY Post he was only "exercising my eyes." But the story doesn't end there. The guard is partially blind and says he doesn't fully see the entire area he's paid to man.

Abdul Basher, 65, is seen wearing shades and lying almost horizontal in a chair in the area of the tower's south lobby, reported the NY Post.

Basher told the Post he has hazy vision out of his right eye due to a nerve condition. He was fired on Saturday by the security firm in charge at the site.

It's just the latest in a string of apparent security lapses near the site where the Twin Towers once stood and the site of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Last week, a 16-year-old boy from Weehawken, NJ was arrested for climbing to the top of the tower. He wasn't stopped until he made his way back down to ground level.

Video was released this week of three daredevils who parachuted from the building in late September. They were later arrested.
