“Step It Out Against MS” more than just a Walk MS team

LOGANVILLE, Ga. -

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that affects thousands. Each year, the Georgia Chapter of the MS Society hosts a walk to raise awareness and funds for research and treatment.

One of their top fundraisers is a family in Loganville who has turned Walk MS into a family reunion.

Therese Stepowany spends a lot of time writing thank you cards to friends. They've answered her plea for donations to help cure Multiple Sclerosis.

Her Father, Gerald Deleski, a University of Georgia Football player in the forties, battled the disease before he died in 1991. Just before her father died, Therese received her own MS diagnosis. It was tough news for a wife and mother of four boys. But it was a turning point for her and her family.

Her son Eric put together a team for Walk MS in 2004. His brothers Robert, Ben and Scott brought their friends too and assembled the largest team that year. The four sons raise money throughout the year, but always make it home for the walk.

All these efforts have made this family a top fundraiser for the MS Society.

The Stepowany family has named their team "Step It Out Against MS" and are really dedicated to fundraising year round.

Their brother Ben, who lives in Charlotte now, even started a Golf tournament there to raise funds. They know the money goes to help finding a cure for MS and for financial assistance and medical equipment for those suffering from the disease.

Walk MS takes place Saturday, April 26th at Piedmont Park.

Sometimes less can be more! A small space shouldn't limit your garden or your imagination—hanging baskets, containers, window boxes, espaliered fruit trees….they're all great ways to made a big gardening impact – even on the most limited high rise balcony!
