Obama to discuss minimum wage in Michigan visit

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WJBK) - President Barack Obama is expected to visit Ann Arbor on Wednesday where he plans to talk about raising the national minimum wage.

President Obama has endorsed a bill to gradually raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 by the year 2016. Michigan's minimum wage is $7.40 an hour.

The president is expected to discuss his proposal about raising wages on Wednesday at an afternoon event at the University of Michigan.

The school says tickets for the speech will be available to University of Michigan students beginning at 9a.m. Tuesday at the Michigan Union Ticket Office.
