Teen arrested for lying after Dalton shooting

DALTON, Ga. -

A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with a March 23 shooting that left one man dead and another man wounded.

Dalton Police Department arrested Ulises Corona on a charge of making false statements to law enforcement officers. Investigators with the Dalton Police Department determined that Corona lied to them during the shooting investigation at Las Delicias on Morris Street.

According to investigators Corona was with Orlando Ramirez, Fernando Resendiz, and Juvencio Vega-Garcia in a car as they rode to the Las Delicias, a bar located on Moore Street in Dalton. Investigators say that Ramirez shot two security guards after being denied entry into the bar, killing 28-year-old Bruno Rodriguez.

Dalton detectives later determined that Corona lied to them during the initial investigation of the incident during the search for Ramirez.  Corona was, in fact, with the group when they picked Ramirez up on Morris Street after the shooting.

Resendiz and Vega-Garcia were then arrested and charged as accessories to the crime. Ramirez was arrested two days later. Ramirez, Resendiz, and Vega-Garcia were charged with homicide and aggravated assault.

Ramirez's girlfriend, Alexa Jiminez, was also arrested and charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal and making false statements to law enforcement officers.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Dalton Police Department.
