App lets you pay your check right from your phone

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

An app called MyCheck allows users to view orders on their smartphones once they're placed and then pay bills when they're ready to leave.

Frances Zelazny, the app company's vice president, gave us a demo while sampling some appetizers at the Andanada restaurant on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She says it's particularly helpful for avoiding those awkward moments when it's time to split the bill between larger parties. The app lets you view your check, split it up, and pay.

Andanada is one of about 150 restaurant and other merchants in the city using the technology. Owner Olvaro Reinoso says it's convenient, particularly for customers on their way to shows because they don't have to wait for the check.

As for our check: we decided to just split it 50/50.
