CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

One person was injured when seven vehicles collided early Sunday in two separate crashes, that occurred within two minutes of each other, on the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway (I-94) on the South Side.

Both crashes, the first involving four vehicles and the second involving three, happened shortly before 3 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-94 near 95th Street, Illinois State Police Trooper Ivan Bukaczyk said.

One person, whose gender and age were not immediately known, was taken in fair-to-serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight said.

All lanes of the expressway were open by about 4:30 a.m., Bukaczyk said.

The cause of the crashes was not immediately known as ISP investigates.
