ROCKWOOD, Mich. (WJBK) -- Rockwood Police are asking for the public's help seeking a 13-year-old boy who has been missing since Wednesday afternoon.

Kole Painter has light-brown hair, blue eyes, is approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 100 -110 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans and sneakers that are black and green.

Authorities are scouring the Huron River area, where his backpack was found.

A FOX 2 crew at the scene says police ended the search just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and plan to start again Thursday morning.

Rockwood Fire Chief Dan Mercure says the water was searched and a helicopter and K-9 unit also searched the woods. He says, except for the backpack lying close to the river bank, no real indication suggests Kole slipped into the water.

If you have information about Kole's whereabouts contact the Rockwood Police Department at 734-379-5323.
