Unionized UIC faculty set new strike date

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The unionized faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago have set a new strike date to protest low wages.

If the UIC faculty does not settle their dispute with the administration by next week, the strike will take place on Wednesday, April 23.

Two more bargaining sessions have been scheduled.

In February, the faculty held a two day strike, hoping to draw attention to the lack of progress in the talks.

UIC professors make anywhere from $1,000 to $9,000 less than UIUC professors on average, except when it comes to instructors, who make about $1,000 more.
