Lawmakers push for hairstyle regulations in Army

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A group of female lawmakers are pushing the army to reconsider new "hairstyle" regulations.

The army's new rules ban most twists, dreadlocks and large cornrows. Those styles are predominately worn by African-American women.

Critics say the new army regulations are biased.

A black female soldier told the army times that twists are the quote "go to style" for her colleagues because they are easy to take care of in the field.
