Two people were shot Friday evening in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The 20-year-old woman and 17-year-old boy were both shot about 5:05 p.m. in the 8400 block of South Burnham Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney, citing preliminary information.

The woman suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Sweeney said.

The boy was shot in the back, Sweeney said. He was taken to South Shore Hospital, where he was listed in "stable" condition.
