Post office employee calls it quits after 61 years

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A legend of the Chicago post office retired Friday.

Robert Neumann -- yes, his name is "Neumann" -- started sorting mail on a train in 1953. He learned electronics, and became a mechanical supervisor.

Sixty-one-years-later, Neuman's calling it a career. However, he said if his doctor would let him, he'd keep on working for the post office.

Neumann and his wife have been married for more than fifty years.

When Neumann started at the post office, a stamp cost three cents, gas was 29 cents a gallon and Elvis had just graduated high school.
