CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A woman was sexually assaulted in Boystown Monday afternoon.

About 4:25 p.m., the 22-year-old was walking south through an alley in the 3500 block of North Halsted Street when an unknown man sexually assaulted her, police said.

She told police that the attacker had a knife and told her "Don't do anything. I'll slit your throat."

He assaulted her and stole her purse and iPhone.

After the attack -- which occurred about two blocks from the Chicago Police Department's 19th District headquarters -- the man ran off. He was described as a black man, between 25 and 32 years old and standing between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-5. He was wearing a black skull cap, blue jeans and gym shoes, police said.

The woman was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in "stable" condition, police said.

No one was in custody as Area North detectives investigated.
