NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -
The future is here when it comes to vehicles. The auto industry has packed nearly 1,000 automobiles into the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side for the 2014 NY Auto Show.
Among the 'must-sees' is a hydrogen-powered vehicle and a prototype with cameras that allow you to see the ground underneath as you drive over it.
One of the highlights of the event is the ride-and-drive where the public is allowed behind the wheel of several vehicles.
The fastest car on the floor is the Nissan GTR which goes from 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds. It sells for $149K.
"It's an amazing thing. What's in a lot of these vehicles is the ability for cars to drive themselves. It allows congestion on the roads to be lessened; it allows people to be able to relax when they are going to work," said Mark Scheinberg, President of the NY Auto Show.
The event opened to the public on Friday and runs through April 27.
Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for children.
