Burger King Launches Whopper Wi-Fi Network

Posted: Updated:

The next time you're in a Burger King, and you're in need of some wi-fi the King's got you covered. AT&T and Burger King have inked a deal which brings the new "Whopper Wi-Fi" network to all of their U.S. restaurants. "Most of our guests carry Wi-Fi capable devices, and this upgrade makes their time with us easier and more enjoyable," said Alex Macedo, President, North America, BKC.

The free wi-fi is being made available via AT&T's Ready Zone product which consists of a wi-fi router that appears to be pretty much plug-and-play. So, now you have more options when you're trying to go sit somewhere and study and your local coffee shop is packed with people already sitting on free wi-fi. Personally, I'm curious to see how stable and fast these networks will be with tons of parents and teens sitting in one of the restaurants clogging up the bandwidth so I'll have to go check a couple out around the city during peak hours and see for myself if its worth it. On the upside, those needing publicly available free wi-fi won't have to wait while the city (yet again) tries to figure out if and how it is going to deploy ubiquitous wi-fi for Angelenos.
